What Is CCIN Vertex?

CCIN Vertex is a commercialization program for Canadian companies building technology in the vehicle, mobility, and connected infrastructure space. We give you access to real-world data, enterprise relationships, and the support you need to go from idea to commercialization.

Through our partners at Geotab and Miovision, you get access to real world fleet telematics data and smart intersection data that most companies could never access on their own. That data, combined with a community of peers, hands-on support, and direct connections to customers and investors, is what makes Vertex different.

Each cohort runs for up to 12 months. We accept companies at all stages, from early research to active commercialization. You move at the pace of your milestones, not a fixed calendar.

The application is short and focused. It takes less than 20 minutes. We ask specific questions about what you are building and how you plan to use the data. There is no business plan required and no pitch deck needed.

Review & Follow Up

The program team reviews every application. If you are shortlisted, we will reach out within two weeks of applications closing to schedule a short conversation.

Onboarding

A 30-minute call with the Program Manager to talk through your use case and make sure Vertex is right for you.

You’re In

If accepted, you receive your stream placement, your data access credentials, and an invitation to our cohort kickoff. Everything starts from there.

Do I need to be based in Ontario to apply?

No. CCIN Vertex is open to companies from across Canada, but preference is given to companies based in Ontario. Our test environment is in Waterloo Region, and being local helps, but we welcome strong applications from anywhere in the country.

What does it cost to participate?

There is no fee to apply or participate in CCIN Vertex. Program resources, data access, coaching, workspace and more are provided as part of the program. You are responsible for your own company costs, including staff time and any resources not covered by the program.

How are companies selected?

Every application is reviewed by the Program Manager. We look for companies who fit the OVIN criteria, have a clear use case for the data, a genuine commercialization goal, and the commitment to engage with the program actively. There is no pitch deck required and no minimum revenue threshold.

What data will I actually get access to?

You will get API access to near time and historical data from Geotab’s fleet telematics network and Miovision’s smart intersection platform, covering more than 500 intersections and 1,200 connected municipal vehicles in the Waterloo Region testbed. You will also have access to OVHCloud compute infrastructure to work with that data at scale.

Do I need to have a finished product to apply?

No. We accept companies from early research all the way through to active commercialization. What matters is that you have a clear idea of how you will use the data and what you are building toward

How long is the program?

You can access the data for up to 12 months. You can exit earlier if you achieve your milestones ahead of schedule. Companies demonstrating strong commercial progress may be invited to continue beyond 12 months.

Do I keep the IP in what I build?

Yes. Any product, tool, or technology you build using the program data belongs to you. You own it and you can commercialize it during and after the program. The data itself remains owned by our partners, but what you build on top of it is yours.
